We're looking for a roommate for our awesome house in the mission.
Tagline: "Massive house, kinda expensive, super awesome."
The House:
- 125 year old Victorian, fully restored a couple years ago
- Quiet street, Fair Oaks, off of 23rd and Guerrero, just a couple blocks from BART, burritos, bars and bikes.
- Huuuge. 3600sqft, 3 floors, 2 kitchens, 4.5 bedrooms, 2 dining rooms, a 2 living rooms, 4 fireplaces, 4 chandeliers, 5 bathrooms (3 shower+tubs), Viking range, an attic, a deck on the top floor and lots of windows, power outlets. Central heating for each floor.
- Large common areas replete with gear (sofas, projector, games, piano, stereo and large music collection so far).
- The whole bottom floor is legally a separate house with a separate address (they are connected by a stairway) but we'd like to keep it "in the family" as it really puts the place over the top, one of the rooms currently available is in that house.
- Well-behaved pets are theoretically allowable but you'll have to convince the housemates.
- Wonderful neighbors and nice landlord.
- A brick backyard that works great for barbecues.
- It's name is Houseku. http://flickr.com/photos/tags/houseku (currently a bit overwhelmed by photos from a rather popular halloween party)
- Some random website thinks were are very walkable: http://www.walkscore.com/get-score.php?street=223+Fair+Oaks+Street%2C+San+Francisco%2C+CA&go=Go
- Perks! We're testing out the idea of having a personal assistant for the house, so far it is working out great, more info on that available upon request.
Us:
- Andy ( http://flickr.com/photos/tags/termie ), aka The Young One, a bit irresponsible but still optimistic that he can change the world. Andy is a Californian until recently living in Europe for two years with a year in SF before that. He enjoys large breakfasts, belgian beers and the python programming language. He doesn't smoke or have the skills required to own pets (but will happily keep them entertained). He sleeps through anything and comes equipped with pretty red, pink, silver and brown bikes he hopes won't be stolen and is building a bit of a collection of spares anyway.
- Eden ( http://flickr.com/photos/tags/edensherry), aka The Tall One, like has to duck his head through doorways tall. Eden was born out here but has hopped from coast to coast a couple times. Having recently found out that gluten doesn't like him, he has helped to provide our house with a wide variety of crazy hippie products as well as a pretty respectable selection of wines, but he still lets us drag him out to pizza from time to time. He seems to have one of everything, which is pretty cool when you want to use something you don't have, and he also seems to know (or quickly find out) how lots of things work, which is good when things break.
- Vas ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/termie/tags/vas ) and Deb ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/termie/tags/deb ) aka The Militant Vegans, except they aren't militant and they practice without preaching. Vas and Deb make a dynamic duo resultant of writing academic papers and hula dancing and crocheting and cooking and energy efficient architecture and books.
- We're all geeks in our own way, we like to throw dinner parties (or play drunk board games, or go out to eat, or come up with crazy plans to take advantage of our awesome house), drink good beer (and wine) and don't need much an excuse to go bike somewhere on a warm day (but it doesn't really get cold here for long).
You:
- Ice cold motherfucker from south Jersey (central Jersey accepted).
- Alternatively, a person or couple would do the trick.
- Not a smoker, at least not much of one (no smoking in the house).
- Interested in throwing dinner parties, okay with guests from out of town sleeping on the couches from time to time and at least somewhat environmentally conscious.
- Interested in sticking around for a while, current lease is until November and we really like the place.
- Extra points given to: experienced travelers, bikers (bicycles, that is), cooks, good taste in beer, neat techie gear you want to share, taking every friday off and significant online presence.
Open Rooms:
- The Middle Room ($1600). The top floor of the house has three large rooms running from the front of the house to the back, this is the middle one. It has a windowed area like a bay window or a reading nook that gets lots of light, wonderful on quiet sunny days. It has a tall ceiling and a fancy old-school light hanging in the center (other lights as well, gets plenty bright).
